Forget it, I can't think of anything funny to put.

Just for the hell of it, I tried to put my 16in upper on the second lower receiver today. They won't fit. Took out the buffer, took out the carrier, no dice. It seems like the area for the rear lug is too tight, rubbed the finish down to bare metal after only a few tries. I'm gonna get the calipers and compare the two when I get a chance, but I wondered if anyone else has had this happen. Bushy upper, Armscor lower.

While it'd be easier to machine the upper than the lower, I would guess that the Armscorp lower is what's out of spec, so I'd machine that instead.

How bad is the interference?

I don't think the lower is out of spec. I compared it to my PWA lower and it wasn't any tighter, it might have been more roomy actually. If I interpreted and remembered my machining plans right it was at least within proper spec. I'm not sure where the problem is. I couldn't see anyplace where light wasn't showing through other than at that lug. Can't see any wear on the lower other than at that lug. But it's bad enough the rear pin won't push through. I'll take both lowers and the upper to the shop and really scrutinize it when I know I'll have the place to myself.

Well, I've got my short upper, but haven't gotten the paperwork. So far I've resisted trying to put it together. lol You know how aggravating it is to have the parts for a neat gun all in the safe while you're not supposed to assemble it? Not sure how anyone would know, but the way my luck has been... I did manage to do some measuring on the two lowers, and I couldn't find any dimensions toward the rear that were smaller on the Armscorp lower. It'll probably just turn out they're both made just far enough out of spec in opposite directions these two won't fit together. I hope like hell anyway.

It's the lower. Armscorp apparently doesn't know what the fuck they're doing. It won't accept magazines. Got curious after noticing the release button still rubs hard on it's slot, even after fiddling with how far into the button it is. One minor annoyance, major inconvienince, and one major problem.

Bummer man  Undecided

Thankfully there are a whole bunch of spec lowers available on the cheap right now. I'd call Armscorp and try to work something of a refund out, but I wouldn't use another one of their lowers  Angry Reason being, if magazines don't fit, I'm guessing their magwell broach is crap.

I'm gonna call them in a little while and see what they say. If they don't handle it free to me I'm gonna be super pissed. I think I should send it to them to have them rework the well to get it within spec. I just sent the form 1 to the sheriff to see if he'll sign it, I'd rather not have to get in touch with him and say "Well, that one didn't work, will you do another". I really don't want to pay money to have a smith to fix it, assuming I could find a smith who does machine work. And I sure as hell don't want to ask my dad to machine it. If memory serves, the guy I bought it from said he checked it all out and didn't find any problems. But then again, people are liars.

Armscorp went tits up, not surprisingly. And they apparently had problems getting their mag wells right. The guy I tracked down said the other two problems were new to him.

Filed sides of mag well, almost right in the corners, and mags drop free now. Used a stone to make the sides of the rear lug area wider/parallel, the sides of this area weren't parallel and were tighter in the bottom. 16 inch Bushmaster upper fits now. Shouldn't have needed to do this work, at least not without prior knowledge of the issues. Shouldn't have paid as much as I did for this.

I'm ending this with two warnings.

1: Armscorp lowers are mediocre or worse, don't pay full price, and expect to work on them.

2: Mike Wilson from Country Sidewalk Trading Post in Wellington, KS will sell you defective items without discounting them or telling you about problems. When asked he will refer you to the people he bought the item from and say they made it. When that turns out to be untrue he ignores you.

...Country Sidewalk Trading Post...

I think that would have been my first clue.

I know you can't judge a book by it's cover, but damn if that doesn't sound a lot like something akin to "T-Money's Traveling Van Gun Shop."  Undecided

Then again, I reckon I bought my first 1911 in a hardware store, so...

Well, the guy was at a gunshow when I bought it. I only recently found out about his store. He kind of blended in with the guys from better gun businesses at the time.
