I'm not sure how much meat we got, never weighed it.  We're still eating it though.  He was pretty big, but not very old, so his meat was delicious.  Just beginning to prep up for this fall's hunt. 

Those aren't burgers, those are tenderloins.  Much tastier.

General archery elk tags go on sale tomorrow. Grin My friends are baffled by my thoughts on elk hunting. I take a spike elk or a cow elk because they taste awesome, my friends all look for trophies while I shoot the first spike that walks in front of me. I hunt elk for one reason, a full freezer. If I get my elk I'll look for a big buck during rifle season. Last year I watched a big 6X7 in a wallow for a good hour, my friends would have killed for that opportunity, he was only 34 yards away, an easy shot with a bow.
